PESHAWAR: Govt trying to improve writers' lot, says minister

PESHAWAR, June 6: The NWFP government is trying to improve the lot of writers, intellectuals and poets and it will ask the federal government to increase their endowments and other facilities , says provincial Information and Public Relations Minister Asif Iqbal Daudzai.

He was speaking at the launching ceremony of Dr Hamid Ali Shah's book Urdu Shairi Main Sciensi Takhayyal at Khana-e-Farhang Iran here. The minister said that science and religion were inseparable since the creation of the world, reminding the audience that God had bestowed the first spark of knowledge on Hazrat Adam A.S.

He said that scientific knowledge was also contained in the Holy Quran and Hadiths, adding that there was a need to unlock mysteries contained in them.

Appreciating the author's efforts, he described the book as being a valuable literary piece, providing its readers an opportunity to test poetry on scientific lines besides inviting them to explore poetry's hidden aspects.

He said that the NWFP had produced renowned writers and poets. The book's author, he said, had tried to open up a new gateway to mediation and exploration in the field of research. -PPI
