PONM plans movement from May 7

KARACHI, April 25: The Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (PONM) has decided to launch a protest movement from Balochistan against controversial projects in the first week of next month.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting of the organization which was chaired by its chief, Sardar Attaullah Mengal, on Sunday. The PONM opposes Kalabagh Dam, Gwadar project, Thal Canal, as well as cantonment projects in Balochistan.

According to the plan, protest rallies will be held in Khuzdar (May 7), Kalat (May 8), Chaman (May 9), Loralai (May 10) and Quetta (May 17). Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Jalal Mehmood Shah, Dr Abdul Hayee Baloch, Akhtar Jan Mengal, Azhar Jatoi, Ubaidullah Bhutto, Azizullah Bohio, Gul Mohammad Jakhrani, Agha Qamar, Usman Kakar were among those who represented their parties at the PONM's Sunday meeting.
