GILGIT: Discrimination against local people alleged

By Our Correspondent

GILGIT, April 17: The Northern Areas Graduates Association (Naga) has alleged that local graduates are being discriminated against in jobs at the Army Public College in Gilgit.

In a letter addressed to the force commander of the Northern Areas, the association said some teachers of the college had been denying opportunities of recruitment and promotions to local graduates allegedly due to regional discrimination.

They alleged that four instructors were reportedly creating disturbance and manipulating the college administration by superseding the senior instructors of Northern Areas by the juniors belonging to other parts of the country.

The body also alleged that some newly- inducted candidates from other parts of the country had been appointed on higher pay scales without any test or interview and the local senior instructors were being ignored.
