GUJRANWALA, April 14: A week-long Baisakhi mela was inaugurated by provincial Transport Minister Chaudhry Shamshad Ahmad Khan in Eminabad on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the Punjab chief minister had resumed the horse and cattle show in Lahore which would be expanded to every district of the province.

He revealed that the government had given an approval for the construction of stadium on the GT Road in Kamoke which would be completed within one year. Sadar tehsil council Nazim Chaudhry Mubasher Ahmad Cheema and other senior officers of the district administration were also present on the occasion.

FA, FSc EXAMS: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala, has completed all necessary arrangements for holding intermediate annual examinations from April 24.

Board chairman Dr Muhammad Aslam Ghauri said here on Wednesday that control rooms had been constituted at all district and tehsil headquarters for this purpose. He said these control rooms had been set up at Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Kamoke, Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian, Gujrat, Kharian, Sarai Alamgir, Mandi Bahauddin, Malakwal, Phalia, Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur, Narowal and Shakargarh.

He said that examination centres had already been established at state-run educational institutions while its principals were inducted resident inspectors to supervize the examination.

SHOT DEAD: A motorcycle rickshaw driver was shot dead on resistance by unidentified assailants in Wazirabad on Wednesday. Nawaz was on his way when armed men tried to snatch his vehicle. He died on the spot.

SUICIDE: A teenaged girl committed suicide by taking poisonous pills over a domestic issue in Dharam Kot on Wednesday. Saadia took poison after having a quarrel with her parents. She was taken to hospital where she died.
