LAHORE, April 13: Pakistan will hold the 3rd South Asia Women swimming championship in July next year, said Kamran Butt, secretary, Pakistan Swimming Federation at a news conference on Tuesday.

Flanked by president PSF, Yunus Shafiq Choudhry and secretary Pakistan Olympic Association Muhammad Latif Butt, Kamran said, the venue for the event will be decided later after carrying out an assessment of facilities available in the country.

He said that Pakistan was allocated this championship by an Executive Committee meeting of the South Asia Swimming Federation on April 2 in Islamabad during the SAF Games.

"The meeting also fixed dates for other events which were allocated to other member countries," he said. Butt said, Bangladesh swimming federation will organize the 3rd South Asia men swimming championship in September/October next year, while India will hold South Asia swimming championship for men and women in 2006.

Nepal will host the South Asia junior championship which will be held in 2006. He said, Sri Lanka has offered to conduct water polo events next year and requested South Asian countries to ensure their participation. -APP
