HYDERABAD, April 12: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former EDO, education, Manzoor Hussain Bhutto, as he failed to appear in the court.
Justice Mohammad Mujeebullah Siddiqui passed the order on a contempt of court application, filed by Saeeda and others in connection with a the rent of her building being used for a nationalized school.
Sindh Advocate-General Masood A, Noorani requested the court to only summon the former EDO but the court turned down his request. Syed Khursheed Azam, assistant district officer, elementary, education (male) told the court that the former EDO had now been posted as director of assessment, bureau of curriculum.
On the previous hearing, the former EDO had undertaken before the court to pay Rs60,000 to the applicant within one week and the remaining amount later. The applicant said that more than two months had passed but the amount had not been paid to her, and prayed the court to take action against Mr Bhutto for making a false statement in the court.
The Sindh government has filed a petition, challenging the order of a session court in favour of Ms Saeeda in the same matter.
PROTECTIVE BAIL: The special judge, anti-corruption, here on Monday granted protective bail to two accused, Faiz Mohammad Palari and Sikandar Ali Palari, for Rs50,000 each in a fraud case.
The case was lodged against 12 accused, six of them government officials, under relevant laws, regarding mutation of 168 acres of land. The applicants' counsel argued before the court that his clients could not be booked by the anti-corruption establishment as they were private persons.
FREE SERVICE: Professor (Dr) Abdul Qadir Shaikh has offered free medical advise and treatment to the senior citizens of Hyderabad, reports Our Bureau.
A statement issued by the spokesman of the Pakistan Senior Citizens Association, local chapter, said that Professor Shaikh would provide free services to the senior citizens at the day centre of the association on second Saturday of every month.
