LAHORE, April 12: The United Teachers Association has announced that all technical education teachers will boycott classes and observe a strike from Tuesday (today) to April 20 across the province.

UTA chairman Muhammad Tariq, president Muhammad Arif, secretary-general Qausain Naqvi and others have given the strike call after the failure of talks with the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) chairman and the Punjab industries secretary here on Monday.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the UTA leaders claimed that the marathon meeting with Tevta chairman Sikandar M Khan remained inconclusive as no decision was taken on any of the nine agenda items.

They claimed Mr Khan failed to make any commitment on any of the agenda items as he continued to say that he would be able to make commitment on any issue after due consultations with his colleagues.

They said the industries secretary said the talks were held on the directions of the Punjab chief minister and the chief secretary and the details of the meeting would be sent to them accordingly. The Tevta chairman was not available for comments.
