Patriots to meet Musharraf

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, April 10: PPP-Patriots leaders are due to call on President Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad on Monday to repose confidence in his leadership and the policies given by him, party sources say.

According to one source, the delegation will urge President Musharraf not to take off his military uniform as such a step would lead to instability.

The delegation comprising all MNAs will be led by Rao Sikandar Iqbal, the defence minister, who is also the chairman of the party. A preparatory meeting of the party leaders will be held at the Islamabad residence of Interior Minister Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat on Sunday night to finalize the agenda of the meeting.

The defence and interior ministers, who are the top leaders of the PPP-Patriots, have said it time and again that the present system is stable only because the president also happens to be the army chief.

Source say that the Patriots leaders will also stress the president to continue to follow the course of 'enlightened moderation' enunciated by him.
