Published April 11, 2004

LAHORE, April 10: The local Christian community will observe Easter with traditional religious fervour here on Sunday. The city churches have been tastefully decorated to mark the occasion. The biggest congregation will be at the Cathedral Church of the Resurrection where Reverend Dr Alexander John Malik, Bishop of Lahore and Primate Church of Pakistan, would lead the main service.

In his Easter message, Dr Malik said it was a feast of love, tolerance and peace. "Through resurrection, Jesus Christ emerged triumphant over the demonic forces of evil and death."

He mentioned that Easter provides hope to all those who are struggling against the forces of evil and injustice. The Bishop urged Christians to join hands with all those who were struggling for dignity, liberty, equality and other rights of human beings. -APP
