KARACHI: Sakhi Hasan hydrant to be closed: Nazim
KARACHI, April 10: The city government's Advisory Committee has decided to close Sakhi Hasan water hydrant in North Nazimabad and also agreed that all Bachat Bazaars will be held only on Sundays.
The decisions were taken at the committee meeting, chaired by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, held on Friday evening.
Besides DCO Mir Hussain Ali, all executive district officers and town nazims attended the meeting and discussed suggestions regarding various problems being faced by towns.
Mr Khan said that Water and Sewerage Board staff would work under the supervision of town nazims and in case of any irregularity, a nazim could issue show-cause notice and suspend the official found responsible for the fault.
The meeting also decided that any mega project, before its execution, would be discussed with the town concerned.
City nazim directed the officials concerned that finance committee of the Advisory Committee would prepare its report on financial issues, besides other suggestions, with collaboration of DCO and EDO (Finance), within seven days.
The committee decided to make hawkers' zones by eliminating encroachments along city footpaths.
The meeting expressed its concern over deteriorating law and order and increasing traffic accidents in the city.
The nazim also issued directions for identification of suitable place for construction of low-cost houses in the city and added that he would work as chief control of buildings.-PPI\APP
