HYDERABAD, April 9: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation staged separate demonstrations outside the press club here on Friday to protest against the construction of the Kalabagh dam and the greater Thal canal.

They carried banners and placards and raised slogans against controversial water projects. Speaking on the occasion, JSSF leaders Asif Memon, Badar Junejo, Zubair Leghari and others said the greater Thal canal and Kalabagh dam were anti-Sindh projects and matters of life and death for the people of Sindh.

They vowed to resist the construction of the water projects. Suriah Sindhi, Sono Khan Lashari and Habib Sindhi of the Hyderabad chapter blamed that the elder brother was destroying Sindh in the name of Pakistan and Islam.

They alleged workers of nationalist parties were arrested throughout Sindh for opposing the water projects. They said the movement launched by the JSQM would continue unless disputed water projects were abandoned.

MSF: The Muslim Students Federation (PML-N), led by Sindh president Roshan Baloch, staged a rally outside the press club on Friday to celebrate the expected return of PML (N) president Shahbaz Sharif to Pakistan. They danced on the beat of drum and distributed sweets and raised slogans in support of Sharif brothers.
