HYDERABAD, April 8: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar has said that ancient villages of Karachi will be regularized and their residents will be given proprietary rights and provided civic amenities. He was talking to journalists at a reception hosted in his honour by Sindh Minister for Zakat, Ushr, Auqaf, Religious and Minority Affairs Dr Irfan Gul Magsi at his residence here on Thursday.

Mr Mahar said that the Hyderabad Development Package announced by the president was intact and funds would be released under it to carry out development works in the district. The chief minister said that differences among the elected representatives over the package had been removed due to his intervention.

Answering a question about the setting up of an intelligence wing by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, he said that it was an organizational matter of the party. About law and order situation in Sindh, he said that effective measures had been taken to improve the situation. Giving an example, he added, the accused of killing two minor girls in the Gadap area had been arrested.

Mr Mahar said that criminals and terrorists would not be spared and no one would be allowed to play a political game on corpses. Supporting the constitution of the National Security Council, the chief minister said that it was a good thing that the bill had been passed.

He said that the Thar Coal Project was under implementation which would produce 600 mega watt electricity. He said in view of past experiences, proper planning had been made to face any rain and flood emergency and added that departments concerned had already issued instructions in this regard.

He said that steps were being taken to eliminate unemployment in the province as recruitment was being made in different departments. The chief minister, however, ruled out that anyone would be allocated a job quota.
