KANDAHAR, April 6: Two Taliban guerillas died when a mine they were laying on a road used by US forces exploded prematurely in southern Afghanistan, a local security official said on Tuesday.

In another incident on Monday night, a rocket landed near a US special forces base at the former residence of a Taliban leader Mulla Omar in Kandahar, but there were no reports of casualties, an official there said.

The Taliban guerillas were killed laying the mine in the Deh Rawud district of Uruzgan province, district security officer Abdul Ahad told Reuters.
