RAWALPINDI, April 6: Special anti-terrorism court No 1 here on Tuesday fixed April 10 for framing of charges against banned Islami Tehrik-i-Pakistan (ITP) chief Allama Sajid Naqvi and former MNA Amanullah Khan Sial in Azam Tariq murder case.
Earlier, the judge, Manzoor Ahmed Mirza, had fixed April 6 for the purpose. However, the court had to extend the date after the arrest of one of the co-accused, Amanullah Khan Sial.
The police had presented incomplete challan in the case and according to the rules they should reproduce a fresh challan in the case after the arrest of Mr Sial, defence counsel Zulfaqar Ali Naqvi told Dawn.
Sajid Naqvi, who was granted bail by Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, was present in the court. Mr Sial, however, could not attend the proceeding as he has been admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad, with cardiac problem. Mr Sial has also been granted bail in the case.
ACQUITTED: Additional district and sessions judge Chaudhry Abdul Qayyum exonerated three men of charges of kidnapping, criminally assaulting and killing a minor boy as the prosecution could not produce any eyewitness.
According to the prosecution, Azeem Masih, Imran and Mohammad Zakir lured a minor boy, Javed Masih, to a jungle in Dhoke Mai Sarwar in the jurisdiction of airport police.
They sexually assaulted the boy and then stuffed his mouth with flour due to which he died. The prosecution had also contended that the three accused had killed the child fearing that he would report the incidence to the police or his parents.
