Imtiaz returns match tickets

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, April 4: Former Pakistan captain Imtiaz Ahmed said on Sunday that he would return 10 tickets offered to him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the second Test.

He said that the PCB had offered him tickets of Rs500 denomination each, which he considered a disgrace. Nevertheless, he would honour his commitment made earlier with the board to be chief guest on the third day of the second Test, he added.

Another former Test cricketer Mohammad Ilyas also returned the tickets since he too had objection to the tickets' value which he thought was below his status.

In sharp contrast, PCB has invited former Indian Test captains and plans to extend them full protocol. Kapil Dev, Chandu Borde, Gundappa Viswanath and Dilip Vengsarkar are due to arrive here by Monday evening.

The PCB had in recent past failed to invite former Testcricketers to see the final two one-dayers played here last month. This drew resentment from national heroes, who later convened a press conference to express their anguish at the PCB's attitude, and prompted them to form former Test cricketers association to safegaurd their rights.
