ISLAMABAD, April 2: Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan has described as totally unfounded and wild speculation the reports of President Musharraf and Prime Minister Vajpayee leading an Aug 14 peace parade from Muzaffarabad to Srinagar.

Diplomatic sources said the reports of the two leaders participating in the parade were filed on April 1 and took the foreign office by surprise.

When asked if the wild and unfounded reports were part of the April Fool's day pranks, Mr Khan said. "These are serious matters pertaining to conflict resolution. They should not be trivialised."

As part of the April Fool's day pranks, Times of India also ran a front-page story sourced to "lirpA looF" which said President Musharraf would bowl a symbolic over to Indian Prime Minister Vajpayee in the second cricket test match at Lahore.
