India proposes special trains for cricket series

NEW DELHI, March 7: The Indian Railways has proposed running of special trains to facilitate those desiring to see the forthcoming cricket series in Pakistan.

"Some special trains on the lines of the Samjhota Express may be run for the cricket series," the railways sources were quoted as saying. The proposal has been sent to the Pakistan Railways.

Samjhota Express runs twice a week but a deluge of cricket fans, expected for matches in Pakistan, may require running of additional trains, sources observed.

The Pakistan High Commission has set up special counters to cope with the rush of visas seekers. Over 8,000 Indian cricket lovers are likely to be granted visas.

The commission has started receiving applications and visas will be granted to the applicants on the basis of print out and confirmation of their tickets, booked online.

Meanwhile, India has agreed to Pakistan's proposal for setting up a special visa camp in Amritsar to facilitate the applicants, wanting to witness the cricket series. -APP
