GUJRANWALA, March 7: All chairmen of the Punjab Education Boards have been empowered magisterial powers to ensure the secondary school certificate annual examinations transparent.
While the District Nazim has imposed section 144 in the district for the examination. This was stated by Punjab Boards Committee's head and Gujranwala BISE chairman Dr Muhammad Aslam Ghauri while talking to newsmen here on Sunday.
He pointed out that he had also transferred these magisterial powers to all superintendents of examination centres to combat all illegal practices adopted by the candidates in the examination.
The committee head warned the candidates to avoid carrying any supporting material in the examination centre. He said that the class 9th annual examination had been commenced while class 10th examination would be started from March 16.
As many as 146,000 candidates were taking the class 9th examination while the figure of class 10th candidates had touched 152,000. About 472 examination centres had been set up for these candidates in the division, he added.
RESENTMENT: The PPP city and district organizations jointly expressed anguish over flour crisis in the country and accused the government for its failure to resolve the public problems due to its defective policies.
Speaking at a meeting held here on Sunday presided over by PPP district president Chaudhry Abdullah Virk, MNA Chaudhry Imtiaz Safder and other leaders said that Pakistan was an agricultural country where wheat stocks were sufficient to fulfil the requirement of the people throughout the year.
They held the government responsible for creating the flour crisis in the country. They said that solid steps should be adopted for resolving the flour crisis after taking mills owners and elected representatives into confidence.
Among the speakers were: MPAs Chaudhry Zahid Pervaiz, Lala Shakeelur Rehman, Chaudhry Muhammad Ijaz, Chaudhry Shabbir Ahmad, Muhammad Ashraf Kamboh and Mian Saudul Hassan Dar.
Foiled: The Sabzi Mandi police foiled suicide attempt by an accused involved in selling kidneys here on Sunday. While the police also arrested his brother involved in the heinous crime.
The police had arrested accused Saifullah and detained him in the lock-up where he attempted suicide after wrapping a cloth around his neck. Meanwhile, the accused was remanded by a local magistrate in police custody for three days.
