PESHAWAR: Secretaries asked to explain delay: Development projects

By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, Feb 28: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has expressed displeasure over non-execution of development projects and has asked all the provincial government secretaries to give reasons as to why the work on development schemes has not been initiated, sources said.

They said according to an order issued by the Chief Minister's secretariat on Feb 20, the chief minister had expressed displeasure over non-initiation of development schemes allocated in the annual development programme for the fiscal 2003-4.

The order said that work on many development projects was yet to be initiated despite the fact that only four months had been left in the current fiscal.

The chief minister, the sources said, had asked the secretaries and heads of provincial departments to furnish reports at the earliest about causes of delay.

The sources said the chief minister had also expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work on various other development projects.

Mr Durrani, the sources added, had asked the secretaries and heads of departments to clarify whether the delay was caused by the late finalization of PC-1s by the authorities concerned.
