KARACHI, Jan 1: The City District Government of Karachi on Thursday decided to immediately start work to control water leakages at Banaras Chowk so as to overcome the bottlenecks in the way of completion of improvement plan of this chowk.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of DCO Mir Hussain Ali. The chief engineer of the water board assured that work on plugging of leakages would be completed soon.

It was decided that the city government's transport department would modify the sections of the chowk for future traffic improvement. The meeting also reviewed the Preedy Street Extension plan.

The DCO told the concerned officials to bring an improvement in traffic system in entire Saddar area as only then the street extension plan would prove successful.

He said the link roads connecting with Preedy Street extension should also be kept in view, and particularly the road coming from Taj Complex be improved. -APP
