Shaista not welcomed in Hyderabad, returns

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Dec 18: Shaista Almani, who was sent to Hyderabad on Wednesday under the directive of the Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench, reached Jamshoro at midnight.

However, she had to return to Sukkur on Thursday morning as she found the house of her brother-in-law, Hakim, locked.

Ms Almani, accompanied by her younger sister, brother, mother and father, was escorted by the police from Sukkur to Thermal Power House Colony, Jamshoro, to hand her over to her elder sister’s in-laws.

Ms Almani and her family members came to the Jamshoro police station to make an entry and wait for the return of Mr Hakim’s family.

The police kept visiting the residence of Mr Hakim till 5:30am on Thursday but to no avail.

The security in-charge of the colony, told the Jamshoro SHO that Mr Hakim was at his house till Wednesday evening and left afterwards without telling anyone where he was going.

Police sources said Ms Almani’s family had made a telephone call from Sukkur to her sister before they left for Hyderabad.

The police contacted the Sukkur DPO and informed him about the situation after which Ms Almani and her family left for Sukkur at around 8am.

Our Sukkur Correspondent adds: Ms Almani reached here from Hyderabad on Thursday. She was kept at the Police Lines and will be produced before the Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench, on Friday.

Asma Jehangir of the HRCP was informed about the situation by the commission’s local chapter.
