Saarc chambers’ symposium

ISLAMABAD, Dec 18: The Saarc Chambers of Commerce and Industry will hold a symposium on regional cooperation for formulating a vision and policy action for a better future for the people of South Asia.

The symposium will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Mir Zafurullah Khan Jamali on January 2. Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri and Indian Minister for External Affairs Yashwant Sinha will be the keynote speakers on the occasion. Padma Jyoti, president Saarc Chambers of Commerce and Industry, will be presenting the welcome address.

The 12th Saarc summit is scheduled to be held in Islamabad from January 4-6.

The symposium is aimed at bringing together some of the most distinguished intellectuals, business leaders, social scientists and statesmen in the South Asian region to help analyze the ongoing process of formulating a vision and policy action for a better future of this region.

It would also discuss the issue of SAFTA agreement, poverty eradication and regional cooperation. The symposium is being organized in collaboration with South Asia Centre for Policy Studies.
