World Cup polo squads announced

LAHORE, Nov 3: A seven-member Indian polo squad will compete in the World Cup Zone D polo tournament to be played at Lahore Polo Club during Dec 6-14.

The participating teams of Group D are Pakistan, India, Iran, Australia and Singapore and will compete on round robin league and one team will book a place in the main round of the Cup which will be played in France next March, it was announced on Monday.

The Indian Polo Association (IPA) has confirmed participation of their team and have sent the names of the players.

Following are the teams, names of the players and their handicap.

INDIA: Samir Suhag (5),Vishal Singh (5),Capt Najit Singh Sandhu (4),Basher (4), Bhawani Singh Kalvi (2),Simran Singh Sherjill (2), Lt Ravi Rathore (2).

PAKISTAN: Malik Atif Yar Tiwana (4), Shah Shamyl Alam (4),Hamid Ali (4), Khurshid Ahmad (4), Brig Isfandiyar Pataudi (3), Shah Qubilai Alam (3), Hissam Aly Hayder (3), Sami Ullah (3), Ahmad Khan (3), Arslan Najeeb (2).

IRAN: Rana Behboodi (4),Bahram Jahambani (3), Siamack Iikhanizada (3), Meshkan Azarnoosh (2), Kamran Rostami (2), Esmail Emami (1).

AUSTRALIA: Kelvin Johnston (4),Robert Ballard (4), Jamie Macky (3), Brodie Donovan (3), Wal Ashton (2), Mark Tolhurst (manager).

SINGAPORE: Shariman (5), Sattar Khan (4),Asad Jumabhoy (2), Rikard Hogberg (2), Satinder Garcha (1), Lawrence Khong (1).—APP
