DHAKA, Nov 3: Bangladesh on Monday announced their team for an upcoming three-match one-day series against England starting at Chittagong on Friday.
The nucleus remained the same as of the team for a preceding two-Test series which the home side lost 2-0.
The 13-member Khaled Mahmud-led side is, however, without experienced opener Javed Omar and young left-arm spinner Enamul Haque (Junior), both of whom played in the Tests.
The selectors continued to ignore batsman Mohammad Ashraful, who two years ago became the youngest player to hit a century in Tests, against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground.
Ashraful,19, was also ignored for the Tests.
But 18-year-old batsman Nafees Iqbal, a nephew of former captain Akram Khan, has been included in the team along with Mohammad Jamal.
Bangladesh will miss the services of paceman Mashrafe Mortaza, who took a career-best 4-60 in the first innings of the second Test at Chittagong last week, because of a knee injury.
The second and third matches of the series will be held under lights at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Nov 10 and 12.
The squad:
Khaled Mahmud (capt), Habibul Bashar, Khaled Mashud, Hannan Sarkar, Rajin Saleh, Alok Kapali, Mushfiqur Rahman, Mohammad Rafique, Tapash Baishya, Mohammad Moniruzzaman, Anwar Hossain, Mohammad Jamal, Nafees Iqbal.—AFP
