PESHAWAR, Oct 22: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad said here on Wednesday that there was no need to continue dialogue on the Legal Framework Order (LFO).

Talking to newsmen after attending a provincial Nifaz-i-Shariat Council meeting, he said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) had reached the conclusion to give up dialogue on the LFO.

Qazi said: “Neither the government had made any serious effort to renew talks on the LFO nor MMA needs its further continuation.”

About the process of Islamization in the NWFP, he said the provincial government was sincere to promulgate Islamic laws, but the federal government was creating hurdles to foil the MMA agenda.

He maintained that several factors that included the US, the President-in-uniform, the provincial governor and the local governments, had hampered the provincial government’s march towards Islamization.

He said despite financial constraints and constitutional limitations, the MMA government was trying to utilise all available resources to solve problems of the people.

He claimed that provincial ministers were accomplishing their task with honesty and despite a strong monitoring system not a single scandal against the government functionaries had come to surface.

The MMA leader said an extra-ordinary meeting of the 21-member Nifaz-i-Shariat Council would soon be held to be attended by central leaders of the MMA.

He said the provincial government had been directed to implement recommendations of the council in letter and in spirit.
