SUKKUR, Oct 19: Five persons, including three policemen, were killed in separate encounters near the Sindh-Balochistan border on Sunday night. Ten persons, including six policemen, were injured in the two incidents.

The encounter, in which three policemen were killed and six others injured, occurred near the Mohan Bugti village in the limits of RD 238 police station at about 9pm.

It was learnt that the encounter began after 25 outlaws ambushed a police party near the Nodhan village while it was on its way to the Nodhan Bugti area to arrest some accused allegedly involved in some offence.

The policemen, who were killed as a result of the outlaws’ firing, were identified as Raheem Bakhsh Brohi, Ghulam Qadir and Hero Khan. Those, who were injured, included SHO Abdul Jabbar Magsi, head constable Sanaullah Lashari and constable Muhammad Arib Bachkani.

Meanwhile, another police party that was dispatched to the area was also engaged by the outlaws.

Officials said that two outlaws were killed in the ensuing encounter while four others were injured. Their names were not ascertained till the filing of the report.
