KARACHI, Oct 14: PTCL and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) will meet in Wednesday’s final of NBP Junior Cup hockey tournament after winning their semifinals in contrasting styles at Faisalabad Hockey Stadium Tuesday, says a message received on Tuesday.

Pakistan junior international Muhammad Arif scored a brilliant hat trick as PTCL trounced Pakistan Police 6-2. The match was locked 1-1 at breather.

Spearheading the attack Arif blasted goals in 61st, 62nd and 66th minute to complete three in a row feat. Arif also scored in the opening minute of the first half. Rana Naeem and Muhammad Nadeem scored the other goals.

Muhammad Tariq struck both the goal’s for Police by converting a penalty corner and a penalty stroke.

In the other pre-final NBP struggled to beat Pakistan Railways 1-0. Left out Sultan Hanif scored the match winner on rebound seconds before the hooter.

Muhammad Arif (PTCL) and Adnan Zakir (NBP) were named Man-of-the-Match and were presented Rs 2500 each.

The final will be played on Wednesday at 3.00 p.m.—APP
