KARACHI, Oct 9: Saad Wasim struck a sparkling century that enabled KCCA Zone-VII claim three invaluable points in the drawn fixture of the PCB Inter-district Senior Cricket Tournament on Thursday.

Saad stroked 22 fours and two sixes on his way to 149 as Zone-VII reached 362 for seven in their 90 overs of the innings in reply to Zone-II’s 293 at the Asifabad Sports Ground.

Young batting prodigy Faraz Patel, on the other hand, was unfortunate not to emulate Saad as he fell eight short of the three-figure mark. Faraz’s 92 contained a dozen boundaries and his fifth-wicket stand with Saad yielded 167 runs.

Zone-I also bagged three points after taking a first innings lead of 176 against Zone-V, who made 144 at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground. Off-spinner Asad Butt was the wrecker-in-chief for Zone-I with five for 19 in 13.4 overs.

Zone-III also secured first innings points after obtaining a 62-run lead over Zone-VI at the TMC Ground thanks to veteran slow left-armer Jaffar Qureshi who grabbed five wickets for 89 runs.
