Regional trade commissioners

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 8: The government has yet to process the appointment of six regional trade commissioners (RTCs) abroad for promotion of exports and trade diplomacy.

Informed sources told Dawn that the Federal Cabinet had already approved the appointment of RTCs, but the decision was yet to be implemented.

Under the trade policy 2003-04, the appointment of these RTCs was announced for America, European Union, Africa and Far East. Later on the government approved two more RTCs one each for Middle East and Central Asia. It was also announced that EPB would soon prepare a detailed proposal in this regard.

With the appointment of competent and expert officials as RTCs, the sources said it was hoped that they would guide the Pakistani representatives abroad in the promotion of exports.
