KARACHI, Oct 8: Three ships carrying soyabean meal and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side as the port agencies tried to clear the off-port rush of incoming ships. As a result, seven ships, Oriental Bright, Bunga Terasak, APL Portugal, Corin Thakikos and Kota Tegum to unload and load containers, Olympias, to unload DAP fertilizer and Phenix to offload sugar for Afghanistan were berthed.
Sailing was also active as five ships, Dong He, City of London, Astor, Kota Wajar and Florida departed, while Bunga Terasak, APL Bright, Kota Tegum, Flame, Hyundai Stride and Shalamar are due to sail out on Thursday.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was relatively slow as the total tonnage fell to 58,786 tons comprising 11,279 tons of export cargo and 47,507 tons of import tonnage.
The following ships are due on Thursday: Chmroad Mega, with lube base oil, Torge-S, with containers and Mercs Kandy, with 2,700 tons of soyabean meal.
KARACHI, Oct 8: Shipping activity remained slow as only one ship, Maersk Avon, carrying containers arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Wednesday.
Two ships, Chemroad Mega and Iran Eshraghi were busy in discharging edible oil and iron ore respectively.
Cargo handling activity was moderate totalling 22,341 tons comprising imported commodities including 7,738 tons of edible oil and 14,603 tons of iron ore was handled.
On sailing side only one ship, Saudi Dariyah, sailed out. Two ships, Flag Emma, Maasstad-I and Maersk Avon were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage.
Two ships, Jordan and Sinar Sabang with containers and chemicals were due to arrive at the port, while Al-Maqwa and Safmarine Pakistan with diesel oil and containers are due on Thursday.
