KARACHI, Sept 26: Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammed Mahar said on Friday that the merger of Pakistan Muslim League factions was a good omen for national progress and prosperity.

Speaking at a reception hosted in his honour at the Palam village near Gadap, he said the party would soon emerge as a big force and play its positive role in the national affairs.

He said the PML would not betray the people and would solve their problems.

“We will take everyone along for the welfare of Sindh,” he said and pledged that he would carry the message of the PML door to door.

The chief minister said the progress visible in the country, particularly in the province, was the result of the policies of President Gen Pervez Musharraf. He said all the projects, especially the large ones initiated during the government of Gen Musharraf, would be completed.

He said the country was heading towards a democratic system under the leadership of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali. “We will lead Pakistan towards the goal of prosperity,” he said.

PML Organizing Committee Convener Senator Nisar Memon said a democratic voyage had been started in the province under the chief minister’s leadership.

Provincial Minister Dr Saeeda Malik said President Musharraf had become a leader of the Muslims.

Provincial Minister Haji Usman Malkani, Adviser Fakir Jadam Mangrio and MPA Mahmood Alam Jamote were also present.

INDUS BRIDGE: Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammed Mahar has approved the construction of a bridge over river Indus between Sukkur and Dadu and said funds in this regard will be provided by the federal government.
