WTO chief due on Oct 2

ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: The World Trade Organization (WTO), Director General, Mr Supachai Panitchpakdi is arriving here on a two-day visit on October 2.

This will be Mr Panitchpakdi’s first ever visit to any South Asian country following the Cancun ministerial conference.

A senior official in the commerce ministry told Dawn that the DG WTO would meet ministers for commerce, industry, finance and foreign affairs.

Mr Panitchpakdi will also meet president General Pervez Musharraf during his stay.

According to the official, the DG would preside over a round table discussion on WTO related issues along with Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan.
