Construction of Kalabagh dam opposed
LANDI KOTAL, Sept 23: The Khyber Agency chapter of Awami National Party has announced to hold an anti-Kalabagh dam rally on Sept 26 in Jamrud.
The decision was made at a meeting of the party members held in Bara on Monday with ANP Khyber Agency president Imran Afridi in the chair.
The meeting reiterated its party stand on the construction of the controversial dam that it would render thousands acres of land in NWFP as uncultivable and the dam was aimed at total destruction of Balochistan and Sindh.
The meeting observed that it was imperative to inform the masses about the threat attached to the construction of the dam and called upon all party workers to attend the protest rally on Sept 26.
JUI THREAT: Maulana Khalilur Rehman, MNA from Bara, Khyber Agency, has threatened to abduct those who were involved in the kidnapping of JUI Landi Kotal president Gul Rehman if the political administration failed to arrest his abductors.
In a meeting of party members held at Gul Rehman residence on Monday, the Maulana from Bara directly charged Senator Hafiz Abdul Malik and his organization men for kidnapping Gul Rehman. They warned the political authorities to either arrest Gul Rehman’s abductors or they would themselves take revenge by abducting either the senator or any of his men.
SUICIDE: A mentally retarded man in Landi Kotal committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest.
Naeem Khan, who was also a drug addict, also reportedly put on fire his guest room in Fatmikhel village which caused him sever for burns. Later while his younger brother went to bring medicines for Naeem Khan, he locked himself in a room and shot himself with a pistol.
The diseased, who died instantly, was survived by three sons and two daughters.
BAN RESENTED: The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf Khyber Agency has rejected ban on the carrying of arms in tribal areas.
In an emergency meeting of the PTI held in Bara on Monday, the party Khyber Agency president Iqbal Afridi observed that ban on arms in tribal areas was against tribal traditions and warned that it would result in worsening of law and order situation in tribal areas.
