KARACHI: Two wounded in group clash at CHK

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 11: Two people were injured when as many groups of paramedics clashed with each other on the premises of the Civil Hospital Karachi on Thursday.

Sources told Dawn that paramedics belonging to two rival groups — People’s Paramedics and Sindh Paramedics — clashed shortly after the adviser to the chief minister on health affairs, Noman Sehgal, paid a visit to the hospital.

They added that the clash had something to do with the transfer of the former medical superintendent of the Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr Noshad Shaikh.

The rival groups not only obtained medico-legal certificates for their injured members but also lodged complaints with the local police station.

The sources said that hos-pital work had been affected for some time because of the clash.

The medical superintendent of the Civil Hospital, Dr Kaleem Butt, and Mr Sehgal were not available for comments.
