ISLAMABAD Sept 7: The ARD component parties will soon discuss the situation arising from a possible MMA-government agreement on the LFO and if anything is found violative of the constitutional provisions, it will be opposed and resisted, said ARD parliamentary leader Javed Hashmi.
Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, the PML-N leader said his party would take a decision with the ARD on how to react if the MMA compromised on basic issues, including the procedure of presidential election as laid down in the Constitution.
In his party’s view, he said, Gen Musharraf and some other generals were usurpers who were yet to be tried under Article 6, for the illegal and unconstitutional toppling of the Nawaz government on Oct 12, 1999, and for the actions which were being given indemnity through the Legal Framework Order (LFO).
The PML-N leader said Gen Musharraf could not contest for the office of president while he was in service or within two years of his retirement if at all he retired now. Hence any compromise on this question would entail strong rejection and resistance by the ARD parties, he said.
The ARD components,he said, would continue protest unless the government brought the LFO for the assent of parliament.
