Hammad and Raheela claim honours

LAHORE, Sept 7: Hammad Hussain of Railways and Raheela Bano of Wapda won the lap races held at the National Velodrome on Sunday to celebrate the Pakistan Defence Day.

Hammad, competing in 20 kilometre race, won with a time in 18 minutes 16.8 seconds to come in top position. He was followed by Mohammad Yousaf and Khalid both from Punjab.

Raheela appeared in the five kilometre distance race clocking 12 minutes 49.10 seconds to earn the top slot. Ghazala and Misbah claimed the second and third position, respectively.

Five other races of different categories were also held.

Results:

20km lap race (senior category): Hammad Hussain (Railways), 18m 16.08seconds, Muhammad Yousaf (Punjab), Khalid (Punjab).

5km women lap race: Raheela Bano (Wapda): 12 min 49.10seconds, Ghazala, Misbah.

15km ordinary cycle race (Under-16): Ghulam Abbas (Lahore) 37m 15.47sec, Mansoor (Lahore), Hidayatullah (Lahore).

15km ordinary cycle for senior: Muhammad Ashfaq (Sialkot) 35m 51.69sec, Muhammad Younis (Lahore), Idris (Sialkot).

15KM lap race (district level): Ramzan (Chenab Group, Faisalabad) 29 m 20.19sec, Mustansar (Kasur), Younis (Lahore).

Elimination race (district level): Ramzan (Chenab Group, Faisalabad), 15m 1.49sec, Zulqarnain (Sialkot), Tariq (Lahore).
