Cancellation of road project to be challenged

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Sept 7: Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker Mohammad Aslam Bhootani has said that he will challenge the cancellation of a scheme for the construction of a 42km road in his constituency.

Talking to Dawn, he said the scheme was included in the annual development programme to link villages with the RCD and coastal highways.

He said the survey and PC-1 of the project had been completed but the planning and development department had refused to release funds and said that the scheme had been cancelled.

He alleged that the department was not restoring the scheme despite directives by Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousaf.

He said had decided to file a petition against the orders.

“I and Jam Yousaf had promised during the election campaign that the link roads would be constructed and he suggested the road in the ADP,” Mr Bhootani said and said that some bureaucrats were trying to defame the chief minister in his constituency by rejecting the development schemes.

He appealed to the chief minister to adopt measures for the implementation on development projects for the benefit of the people.
