Sialkot thrash Quetta

LAHORE, Aug 26: Rain ended the Inter-region (under-19) cricket tournament match between Lahore and Peshawar in a draw on Tuesday.

Peshawer, in their second innings were 99 for four after resuming at seven for no loss when it started raining, making further play impossible.

The visitors, who had conceded 45-runs lead on first innings, were only 49 runs ahead.

Shahid Khan (37, three fours, one six) and Akbar Badshah (17) were batting when the showers began. Left-arm-pacer Wahab Riaz finished with three for 30.

Meanwhile, five-wicket haul for 29 runs, by pacer Ali Imran helped Sialkot to earn an innings and 48-run win against Quetta at the Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot.

Quetta, having conceded a big lead on first innings of 168, were all out for 120 in second innings.

PESHAWAR (1st innings): 258 for all out in 89 overs (Akbar Badshah 80, Nawaz Ahmed 54, Naved Afridi 31; Azhar Ali 5-84, Khurram Irshad 2-50, Wahab Riaz 2-59). And 99 for four in 39 overs (Shahid Khan 37 not out, Almar Afridi 21; Azhar Ali 3-30).

LAHORE (1st innings): 303 for all out in 89.3 overs (Zulqarnain 60, Abid Ali 46, Muhammad Sohail 38, Azhar Ali 36, Wahab Riaz 31; Amjad Waqas 5-87, Bilal Khan 2-83).

Match ended in a draw.

QUETTA (1st innings): 176 for all in 72 overs (Aroon Lal 41, Kaleemullah 36, Abdul Majid 26; Tariq Mehmood 4-50, Ali Imran 2- 25, A Aslam 2-29, Nawaz Sardar 2-29). And 120 all out in 48.3 overs (Abdul Majeed 32; Ali Imran 5-29, Tariq Mehmood 2-30, Ali Aslam 2-32).

SIALKOT: 344 for four in 90 overs (Arslan Anwar 88 not out, Nawaz Sardar 66 not out, Ehsan Butt 57, Usman Mushtaq 53; Umar Ajmal 2-52).

Sialkot won by an innings and 48 runs.
