HANGU, Aug 26: A decision on a motion of no-confidence against the Hangu Town Council’s Nazim and Naib Nazim could not be taken here as the two rival groups held separate meetings after a controversy erupted on who is to chair the meeting.
The town Nazim Mohammad Daud and Naib Nazim Nizam Ali claimed that the motion could not succeed as the town members did not participate in the voting.
The rival group claimed that as the matter was pending before a court, therefore, they had withdrawn the motion. Now the provincial government will decide the issue.
A meeting was convened at the District Council Hall to initiate proceedings on the motion for the removal of Nazim and Naib-Nazim. However, at the very outset of the proceedings controversy started over the point as to who would be the convener of the session.
Following that controversy the two groups held separate meetings at the same venue. The convener of the rival group’s meeting, Asghar Ali claimed that he had received an application from the group stating that as one of their members was suspended on the orders of the provincial secretary local government department, therefore his case had been pending before the court. He added that due to the same reason the opposition group had withdrawn its motion and the meeting was postponed for an indefinite period.
In the meeting of the group of the town Nazim, the convener Ziarat Gul ruled that the motion had failed as out of nine members of the town seven were present and none of them participated in the voting.
The town Nazim Mohammad Daud said that the move of the opposition to dislodge him had failed for the third time. He was taken from the DCO office to the Main chowk in a procession.
Mohammad Asghar of the rival group stated that their struggle would continue till the removal of the Nazim.
