PFUJ, APNEC condemn govt moves

LAHORE, Aug 26: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and the All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation have condemned government moves to set up a press council, and demanded the withdrawal of all anti-press laws.

The condemnation came in a resolution during a two-day joint meeting of the PFUJ and APNEC in Lahore, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.

The meeting also decided to launch a court-arrest movement against the violation of labour laws, non-implementation of the Seventh Wage Board Award and contractual employment, the press release said. Constituent units have been asked to draw up lists of workers who would court arrest.
