DCO accused of delaying uplift work

Published August 20, 2003

DADU, Aug 19: The contractors of building and road departments held a protest demonstration here on Monday to protest against the district coordination officer, Dadu, for not issuing them work orders of development works.

Later, while speaking at a press conference, the contractors said that 150 contracts for DERA and KPP works were awarded to the 150 contractors through open tenders on merit basis.

They said that a group of contractors, enjoying the support of politicians, who had not participated in the auctioning of open tenders, were trying to bypass it.

They said that the DCO, Dadu, was not issuing work orders to the 150 contractors.

They said that during the month of June delaying tactics were also used while inviting tenders as a result of which Rs110 million had lapsed.
