Ammad pedals to victory

LAHORE, Aug 18: Ammad Hussain of Railways won the Independence Day racing cycle covering the 70-kilometre distance of the Lahore-Raiwind- Lahore route in one hour 41 minutes 39.71 seconds.

Zafar Hussain, also of Railways came in second, followed by Ramzan Shahzad (Punjab).

The race was organised by the Punjab Sports Board and started from the National Hockey Stadium which was also the finishing point.

In the common cycle category race, held over the same route, Mohammad Ilyas of Kasur came in first position with a time of two hours, 10 minutes 39.42secs. Hafiz Mustanser, also of Kasur grabbed second place while Taj Mohammed of Lahore took the third position.
