Relief operation resumes in Badin

By Our Correspondent

BADIN, Aug 16: Relief operation for rain victims restarted in the district on Saturday after a two-day boycott of the process by Awam Dost Panel Nazims.

The majority of Nazims, including those of Awam Dost Panel, joined the relief work.

District relief committee chairman MPA Syed Ali Bux Shah said only nine Nazims were showing reluctance in joining the relief work. He said revenue and police staff in coordination with union council members of areas concerned would look after the work in the absence of the Nazims.

He said 12 trucks loaded with relief goods were dispatched for distribution among the rain-affected people.

When contacted, the Nazims said they were facing hardships in the relief work due to inadequate supply of relief goods.

They said about 75 per cent of the victims had not been supplied with relief items.
