KARACHI: Girls shine in BDS exams

KARACHI, July 11: Karachi University declared on Friday the results of this year’s first, second and third professional examinations which were given to the students of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS).

Girl students bagged all the nine positions. Six of the position-holders belonged to the Fatima Jinnah Dental College, two to the Karachi Medical and Dental College, and one to the Jinnah Medical College.

According to the official handout, 169 candidates took the first professional examinations. Of them 115, that is, 68.05 per cent of the students were declared successful.

The names of the position holders and the percentage of marks obtained by them were: Hina Khalil Malik, 82.83 per cent; Nosheen Maqsood Ali, 81.5 per cent; and, Samira Nasir, 79.33 per cent.

Hina Khalil Malik and Nosheen Maqsood Ali belonged to the Fatima Jinnah Dental College and Samira Nasir was a student of the Karachi Medical and Dental College.

According to another handout, 127 students were given the second professional BDS examinations. Of them 94 passed the examinations. Thus, the pass percentage stood at 74.02.

The names of the position holders, their institutions and percentages were: Sanam Tauheed, Fatima Jinnah Dental College, 81.3 per cent; Rabia Najmi, Jinnah Medical College, 80.4 per cent; and, Erum Inayat Panjwani, Fatima Jinnah Dental College, 788 per cent.

A total of 91 students took the third professional examinations. Of them 66 were declared successful, the pass percentage coming to 72.5 per cent.

The names of the position holders, their institutions and percentages were: Rashna Firoze Aga, Fatima Jinnah Dental College, 79.83 per cent; Marium Zaheer, Karachi Medical and Dental College, 79.16 per cent; and, Farhana Ghaffar, Fatima Jinnah Dental College, 76.83 per cent.
