ISLAMABAD, July 6: Both the Pakistan and Indian governments have cleared resumption of bus service between New Delhi and Lahore with effect from July 11.

The direct road link is to be restored on Friday when the first bus will leave Lahore for New Delhi after a gap of one and a half year.

The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has finalized arrangements and started issuing tickets for the bus service on the basis of visas issued by the Indian embassy in Islamabad.

In addition to the buses which were being used when the service was suspended, some new ones have also been purchased to ply on this important route, Khaleeq Ahmed, a PTDC official said.

He said the bus leaving here on July 11 at 6am would reach New Delhi in about 11 hours at 5pm after completing 536kms of journey with a single stop for lunch.—Agencies
