KARACHI: Detention plea disposed of

KARACHI, July 5: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, comprising Justice S.A Sarwana and Justice Mushir Alam, on Saturday disposed of a detention plea submitted by Asif Sharyar, a central leader of the Mohajir Quami Movement-Haqiqi, and termed it as infructuous.

Petitioner Rabia Sheheryar had moved the SHC against detention of her spouse Asif Sheheryar. Her counsel Khurram Maqsood submitted that the Malir Police had arrested Asif under the MPO.

AAG Salman Habibullah told the court that Asif, arrested in an arms case and later granted bail in said case, did not submit the bail surety and that’s why police confined him in the jail. The court disposed of the petition as infructuous and directed the petitioner to furnish the bail surety.—PPI
