KARACHI: DHA to build sports complex for students

By Pervez Ashfaq Rana

KARACHI, June 23: The Defence Housing Authority has planned to construct a sports complex, adjacent to its O and A level school, in its Phase-VIII, to provide modern sports facilities to the students of the school.

Spreading over 10 acres, the complex will provide various indoor sports facilities, and will also have world standard 400-meter-long athletic track comprising six lanes, besides a football and a hockey field.

The complex will also have Olympic standard 25-meter-long swimming pool, with six lanes. Another swimming pool has been planed for children and the both will also have deck and filter plant to keep the water bacteria-free.

The DHA administrator Brig Asif Ghazali told Dawn that the authority had designed the costly project with the aim of providing world class sport facilities to children.

Emphasizing the role of physical fitness in the Cambridge education system, he said that most of the schools offering O-A level education ignored this very important aspect.
