PESHAWAR, June 9: The Qabail Jamhoori Party (QJP) has warned the government to abolish the checkpoints of paramilitary troops on main roads in Khyber Agency otherwise the tribesmen would launch protest movement against the force.
According to a press release issued here on Monday, president of QJP Abdur Rahim Afridi condemned the killing of Wakil Khan and Masharan Khan and said that many tribal people had been killed so far by the militia force without any justifications.
The two were businessmen and bringing plastic sleepers and handkerchiefs to their shops, when they were targeted by the troops of Frontier Riffles, Mr Afridi said.
He appealed to the corps commander of Peshawar to probe into the double-murder case. He also warned if the case was not investigated impartially the tribal people of Khyber Agency would launch a protest movement throughout the agency against the paramilitary troops.
A local tribal association of Jamrood has also slated the incident of killing two tribesmen and asked the government to compensate the deceased’s family.
In a press release, chairman of the association Ikramullah Khan Kokikhel accused the APA of Jamrood Riaz Mehsud of creating law and order situation in the area. He alleged that the APA asked the tribesmen to stage a protest demonstration in front of the Frontier Constabulary office on Saturday as he wanted to get some benefit from the incident.
The APA was not available when Dawn contacted twice for his comments on killings of two tribesmen and the allegation of the local tribal association.
