ISLAMABAD, June 6: Pakistan Muslim League-N Senator Saadia Abbasi on Friday complained of political victimization and alleged that some unidentified persons had ransacked her house and harassed the inmates.

Speaking to Dawn, Saadia Abbasi, who is also barrister, said that five unidentified persons, including two men and one woman in police uniform, entered her house located at F-8/3, when she was in the high court.

They claimed to have been sent by a court to confiscate belongings in the house. But, she said, no court order was shown to the people present in the house.

Ms Saadia said this was the first time that she had been informed about any purported court order against her.

The unidentified persons, she said, threatened and insulted the inmates including women present in the house and left. After half-an-hour, she said, another six unidentified men in plainclothes broke into and ransacked the house and started collecting belongings. However, these intruders left the site when some of the neighbours intervened.

During this time, she said, the police was contacted, but they refused to take any action. The senator claimed that she had suffered a huge loss to the property and belongings in this incident.

She accused the police of not registering a case, saying that she had submitted an application to the SSP asking him to register a case against the unidentified persons for illegally entering the premises, violating the sanctity of the house, destroying personal property and causing fear and harm to the residents.

She said that under Section 551 of the PPC, an application to the SSP informing him about an incident was considered an FIR.

Meanwhile, PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq and acting President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi condemned the incident and termed it the worst kind of political victimization.

They said the agency people were out to harass the opposition members ahead of the budget session.
