LAHORE, May 25: Functional Muslim League Secretary-General Rana Muhammad Ashraf Khan died of a stomach problem here on Sunday in a hospital. He was 74.

He was operated upon recently, after which he improved to some extent, but his condition deteriorated again.

Rana Ashraf has been a close associate of Pir Pagara for the past three decades. During this period, he made several attempts to reunite various factions of the Muslim League. But every time, there were unsurmountable obstacles.

He will be buried in Chak Mehdi Khan, Qaboola Sharif, on Monday. His soyam has been scheduled for Tuesday.
